Good for internet. Not good for more resource-intensive use. July 9, 2008 K. Scarborough I've used the range extender with the XE102 unit for over two years now and they have always worked great for normal internet browsing. However, it is VERY SLOW (around 1 mbps) transferring files between computers, and the whole thing just crashes if I try to do something like streaming media at even a moderate bitrate. The crash is easy to fix--unplug the wireless unit, then plug it back in a few seconds later. But it is clearly a pain if the wireless unit is in another room (or in my case, on another floor).
But for normal internet use, the wireless unit has always worked well -- no probs at all.

I recently purchased the Netgear wireless range extender system. It was truely plug and play. I didn't have to do anything other than plug it in and start using it.
Excellent job.
Great invention. Setup non-trivial. April 14, 2008 andresmh (Cambridge, MA United States) This is one of the best networking product ideas I have used. I don't see why using regular routers for a home network. Installation and understanding of what each element does is not trivial. Performance is good although once in a while it needs to be rebooted (like most routers). Definitely worth the price and the time setting it up.
