| Customer Reviews:
Good network printer with low-cost ink November 17, 2009 Tom (Freeport, Texas, USA) Don't know about other guys, but I am very sensitive about ink cost. Got this printer one year ago from OfficeMax at $125 and still believes this is the best bargain on the market. The printer setup is easy enough. Simply insert the disc or download the driver/software from Brother's website and follow the instructions. You also need to set up the wireless setting on the printer, which is also pretty straightforward. Once done, you can enjoy the printer on every comptuer in your house.
The printer quality is good, but not top notch. The photo print is, however, good enough to be displayed on the wall in a photo frame. The copy and fax functions are also passable for home use. Never really used the answer machine so cannot really comment on it. The real advantage of this printer is its ability to use third-party ink without any catches. Since there is no encryption chip on the cartridge, any compatible ink can work on this macine and costs only a fration of the original ink cartridge.
Overall, this printer has above average printing quality, reasonable fax and copy functions, and the control button and console are easy to use and set up. The paper loads under the printer, not overhead so it can be placed in cramped space as well. I would say this is a nicely designed printer for household use and the cheap ink is absolutely a huge plus.
